Both fog and morning mist.

The morning was really perfect today. It started with rather thick fog but moved in to morning mist when the sun rose just to turn back to fog when the rising fog made clouds so it blocked the sun again 🙂 Also chilly enough to even keep the moose flies calm. What made it even better was that Alma actually behaved almost the entire walk 🙂

The sun stayed until just after noon I think it was so I decided I would cut down the other plum tree as well, it never gives more than six or seven plums and always get hit by some kind of disease. I did de-bark in in early spring but it has stayed green all summer so I thought it best to do something about it. I know I now will have lots of root shoots but I’ll deal with them when they arrive. No thorns on this one thankfully 🙂 There was some damages on those other things living in that area but I think they’ll survive. It was where that plum tree is growing I had my old pond but since the ground now is filled with loads of roots I won’t be able to use it for that any more, I really don’t want to hire a digger to get those out 🙂 🙂

I also cut of the top of the thorny wild plum, the strong wind we’ve had today helped me to bring it down 🙂 I really don’t like cutting dow my trees but there are other trees I can plant there next year instead.  As long as I keep fertilise the ground all summer, for quite a lot of years, because there will be nothing left when it comes to nutritions for another tree and it can’t be another tree in the same family since diseases easily can stay in the ground and attack the new tree.  It didn’t take long after that when the rain arrived. Mostly a nice autumn rain but also a couple of heavy showers.

The sun came back after five so I planted the two remaining pawpaw seedlings just behind the Laburnum. It has been very dry there for quite some time but I’ve thinned out the branches a lot so now when it rains it actually reach the ground as well. So cross Your fingers and hold Your thumbs so they survive the coming winter, all five of them 🙂

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and after that I’ll watch a science program on tv. I think I’ll actually have some ice cream with that tea, orange ice cream with chocolate strings in it 🙂

      Hi Carol!

      It is a really yummy ice cream. I went to the wrong store one day and since they didn’t have it I bought another kind with vanilla, strawberry and pear taste and it was horrible 🙂 I could stand the chemical taste of the pear but the strawberry was so bad I tossed it away 🙂 🙂

    We have strawberry ice cream here in the U.S., but I don’t think I’ve ever seen orange, and I know I’ve never seen pear. We would find orange in sherbet, though. But I don’t think pear is even a sherbet flavor.

    Now that I think of it, even common blueberry is not usually found in ice cream or sherbet, though it is big in yogurt and it’s one of my favorites.

    And then there’s sorbet and gelato, which I know nothing about and have no idea what flavors may be in them.

    I find it fascinating the difference in flavors and tastes among countries.

      Hi catsworking!

      Pear is quite common here (even in soda and often mixed with vanilla in yogurt) but orange (and blueberry) only in the more expensive brands. My favourite mix is orange and hazelnut ice cream but I’ve only found that in the bigger cities, so nowhere around here 🙂
      Sorbet and gelato is only found in summer I think and only in places that only sells all kinds of ice cream but nothing else.

        Blueberry and strawberry are probably the most common here, as well as lemon and vanilla. Also there’s quite a bit of coconut. And of course chocolate. I’m afraid chocolate may become very pricey due to the tariffs. But I suppose all the others are in danger as well, either from high tariffs on imports or lack of workers to pick the crops because they’ve been deported.

        Maybe grass will become one of the big U.S. flavors before long.

        They’ve tried lemon here but now one wants it, only if it is mixed with something else. Vanilla of course but also rum raisin and of course chocolate 🙂

        Well I know different grass smell different, there are sweet smells and bitter smells so perhaps sweet grass taste would be something 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Hi Christer, it has been a while since my last comment, but I have read through some older posts and not left a comment 😮 When we were away for our 11-day Alaska adventure I did not have internet so no reading blogs or posting. Now that we have been home for a few weeks, there are other things to be doing before we leave again on another trip, this time to Portugal for 8 days. I know, we really should stay home for a while as before that trip we are taking a road trip in Pennsylvania.

    The photos in this post were exquisitely lovely with the mist, fog, spiderwebs and hazy sun. While you were out capturing these beautiful images, I was sleeping in a bit later, shame on me…but not.

    How are things going for a job search or have you decided to stay retired?

      Well I personally thinks that life comes before blog reading 🙂 🙂

      Oh You’ll like Portugal! The kindest and most polite people in at least Europe! However Europeans aren’t too happy about people from the US now days so perhaps say You’re from Canada if someone asks. Not that they would do anything towards You but they will perhaps not be as kind and friendly as they would be towards Canadians or Mexicans.

      I was lucky that morning 🙂 I usually wake up at five am as latest but this morning for some reason I slept until almost 6:30, just in time to see the sun rising so The dogs had their breakfast and I a cup of coffee before we went out on our morning walk 🙂

      Well I just missed a job that I really wanted but I might have another one soon. I can afford to stay at home without getting stressed about my finances so I’ll just enjoy every day I’m at home 🙂 🙂 🙂 Too early for me to retire, three more years if I am comfortable with a low income five if I want a slightly less low income 🙂 🙂
