One cool day is what we’ll get :-)

The Kankakee mallow is in bloom.It was so dry where it lived before (and several new plants are growing there now 🙂 ) That instead of being 2 feet high they’re now 6 feet high 🙂 🙂 🙂

Finally a cool day but the heat will come back already tomorrow. We were supposed to have lots of rain and thunder today but both missed the village. I could hear the thunder from a distance and we did get some rain to be honest, a light summer rain for about ten minutes 🙂 Didn’t do much good. Now they’re guessing the heavy rain will come on Friday instead. The one who lives will see as we say over here 🙂

Nothing much has happened here, it has been too warm for that 🙂 Not even now when it is cooler anyone of us have any energy to do anything. I’ve watered the tree planted this year and some of the older I know grows in the driest parts of my garden. Plus the leeks and beans in the vegetable patch but that’s it. The forest doves have now moved, I could hear the parents in the trees behind the dog yard yesterday evening and now the younglings have moved too. So now I don’t have to worry that the monsterkitten will find and eat them.

It is quiet in the village, no birds are singing, no cars are driving and I can’t hear a single human or dog either. I guess the birds either think we’ll have more rain and thunder or that they all now are preparing for autumn. No more eggs laid but instead fattening up for the move south. All the other sounds I think depends on that lots of people eat their dinner now and are indoors 🙂 🙂

Much better meadow this year 🙂 Lots of different flowers growing there now and the bumblebees loves it.

It is time for something liquid, don’t think tea but most likely lots of water or milk. Also I have a bread baking in the machine and it will be ready in an hour I think. A slice or two with cheese sounds like a good idea 🙂

I don’t think my Chinese Catalpa has started to flower this early ever! Perhaps I’ll get viable seeds this year?
It is the same with one of my perennial sunflowers. They normally flower in late August.

Soon I’ll have plenty of strawberries 🙂

    I have never heard of kankakee mallow so I had to look it up. Not surprising that I’ve not heard of it. It originated only on the banks of the Kankakee River and is considered one of the rarest native plants in the country. It would probably grow in my back swamp. It’s usually wettish down there. They do look like hollyhocks.

    The weather here has been lovely since Sunday. Sunny, breezy, low humidity, temps in the high 70s Fahrenheit. Perfect New England summer. The heat dome comes in tomorrow and it’ll hit close to 100°F with high humidity. It’s been so nice not hearing the AC unit rumbling away 24/7. But I’d rather rumbling AC than sweating out 100°F heat.

      Hi Caryn!

      I bought some seeds many years ago and since it grew in a place that was covered by a little tree I sort of forgot about it for many years as well. I thought that it deserved something better so this year I dug it up and divided it to many plants and now have have some in flowerbeds and lots in pots 🙂 🙂 I do need to put the potted ones down in then ground as well. I think it looks much as a holly hock as well but never seem to get any kind of diseases or being eaten by slugs and snails so that’s positive 🙂

      I’m pretty sure that those having vacation right now says the weather is wonderful, we who work don’t say that 🙂 🙂 🙂
      I agree with Yoy, the AC is better than that heat 🙂

    We had two relatively “cool” days in Virginia where it felt only mid-90sF. But I did considerable grocery shopping yesterday (I don’t know why I dread it so much and put it off until I need everything), and by the time I lugged the bags into the house and put everything away, my shirt was soaked through and my face was dripping.

    And NOW they’re saying the heat is coming back tomorrow and will be near 100F at least the next six days, and that’s without humidity added on, so we are going to melt.

    I need kitty litter, so I better get to the store today and stock up because I won’t want to leave the house until this next heat wave finishes.

      Your cool is our hot 🙂 🙂 🙂
      I don’t mind grocery shopping if there aren’t any or very few other costumers there 🙂 🙂 🙂 So I try to go there when they are opening, usually around 7 am. That usually helps with the heat but I doubt it would be that much of a change when it comes to where You live since it is so much more south than here. At least our nights use to be cool.

      I do feel sorry for You with those temperatures! The only time I like humidity is in winter when it adds thick frost on the vegetation 🙂 🙂

      I wouldn’t either!
