I drove to the supermarket this morning. I started to drive when the ones going to work have passed already so just a few cars on the roads today and much the same on my way home. To my big surprise there weren’t especially many customers either. We to be honest there’s never much costumers on the times I’m doing my shopping but today there were even fewer. Perfect to be honest 🙂

These are from yesterday.

   

Yesterday was very different from today when it comes to the weather. Today we had sunshine and almost no winds, yesterday very windy and lots of snow falling, so I’ll show some of those photos today. Alma started out behaving well, she pulled the leash but was rather quiet for once, Malkolm however had decided that if she was pulling the leash so would he so I was quite grumpy when we reached the forest.

     

With all that rain that fell over the snow and then freezing temperatures and more snow on that it was like walking on tiny ice pebbles, sliding around a lot and impossible to get a grip in, despite that I wore studded shoes (was just the same today). We walked up a little slope when they both decided to surprise me with trying to run up, I got my feet stuck in the snow and of course fell like an old tree. Malkolm isn’t used to me scolding him really bad while Alma doesn’t really care about it 🙂 So I was so angry that I decided we would go back home.

So this is where I fell yesterday. Alma is thankfully very strong and big so I could use her as help to get up from the ground 🙂 🙂 🙂

So today when we were walking the same way Malkolm slowed down a lot 🙂 🙂 while Alma kept on like always. I didn’t fall this time though so we continued out towards the bog but there is just too much ice pebble snow out there now so we turned back homewards again. Still since the sun shone and the wind was absent we did have a rather nice walk after all. OK it did feel like we had walked a marathon when we came back home though 🙂 🙂 I must say though that even though Alma  didn’t behave her best she still almost didn’t whine at all 🙂

     

My entire body feels stiff and joint ache so I guess I might have a cold again, no fever though so perhaps it” stop with this. It’s always fun to have a mixed up immune system 🙂 🙂 🙂 Time for tea and a french roll and most likely fall asleep in front of the tv again 🙂

    Virginia is far enough south that we’ve had only a few dustings of snow the past several years. But Sunday and Monday it snowed twice, enough to stick, leaving a total of about 4 inches if you didn’t clear out the first snow (I did, so the second one just melted).

    I really needed groceries, but waited until Wednesday to go to the warehouse store where stock the freezer with chicken and fish and pizza. It was crowded!

    Now they’re say we get another 2-4 inches Friday night, so today I went to the regular grocery for the rest I needed and it was crowded like Christmas shopping.

    All it takes is the word “snow” for people to panic and buy all the bread, milk and peanut butter. Plus, the first snow knocked out the water station in the capital city of Richmond (I live in a county that’s a suburb). Richmonders were told to boil their water for everything. So I think Richmonders were here to buy gallons of bottled water because our water is OK and the stores still have bottled. What a mess.

    But knowing that more snow is coming, it’s good to have plenty of everything, and the cats, too. I put an extra blanket on the bed because the nighttime temperature goes into the teens. I also propped cabinet doors open under the sinks so the pipes don’t freeze. I’m ready! (For me, this is a big event, but for you in Sweden, it’s just January.)

      Perhaps You now have filled Yous snow quota for this and perhaps next year 😄😄😄
      We still have around 6 inches of snow/ice left on the ground, we didn’t get much today thankfully.

      Well we don’t panic that easily because of snowfall, instead we behave like idiots on the roads because we always believe we are so much better drivers than we are 😄😄😄 It’s like it’s just a challange when they warn us about dangerous roads and that we should stay at home if we can. I think the last snowstorm actually was the first one people listened to the warning 😄😄😄 Unusually few car crashes and very little traffic on the roads over all. We in the countryside do however mostly have food and water enough at home to manage a week without being able to go grocery shopping.

      I have extra blankets as well, when the temperature drops it drops fast. A smart thing to open those doors so the pipes stay warm enough, You really don’t want problems with frozen pipes.

        Now they are saying to expect 2-6 inches of snow tonight, but it should be light and fluffy, not heavy and wet like earlier in the week. They tell us to stay off the roads if there’s an inch and the schools close for days, but most people around here own pickup trucks and huge SUVs, so they think they can drive like normal and never slip. They are wrong, and they are dangerous to be on the road with.

        I drive a regular car and move it close to the end of the driveway so I don’t have to shovel far to get to the road. But if it snows a lot, the street gets plowed (residential streets are last, so it’s a crapshoot if that gets done), I’ve ended up with huge chunks of snow and ice in front of the car. Can’t win.

        But it’s the weekend so not like too many have to get to work. It’s the best time to be snowed in.

        It’s the same here when it comes to drive with winter tires on, they keep driving as if the roads were snow free, idiots! If one at least could say that they are young and believe they are immortal but it’s any age as long as the cars are expensive it seems 🙂 🙂

        Same here, a Renault Megan many years old and I park just beside the gravel road so I just have to shovel behind the car and on one side of it 🙂 and my entrance is just a couple of yards from the same road as well so not much shoveling here and it’s a village that does the gravel roads with his tractor and he’s always out doing the shoveling pretty early in the morning 🙂

        It is the best time 🙂

    Be careful on the ice. Steve fell last year and still has shoulder issues. I love the coloring on your kitty. Take care.

      We only walk on plowed road for a short bit and then we’ll come out on the gravel road. There’s so much snow left there that any fall will be landed on the soft snow/ice pebbles. But I do wear studded shoes and I must say those are amazingly good on ice! Still Alma is so big and strong that not even those can help me sometimes 😄😄😄

      She does have wonderful colors 🙂
