My neck is feeling a bit better today, I’ve stretched itΒ back and forwards, very slowly, all day long. I did however wake up in the middle of night when I tried to turn and had to sort of lift my head while turning around π π π Fell asleep directly as soon as I had let my head down again π My back is also a bit sore today but I think that has to do with me planting trees and ripping up roots from the ground.

Today, I have no idea what this is called in English) I shuffled up soil towards the potato stalks so I’ll get more potatoes. I also sowed beans and peas and a couple of squash seeds. I’ll get more squash than I can eat with two plants so no need for any more. I still have space for more vegetables so now I’ll check what I have in my seeds bags π

This year we have more mosquitoes than I think I’ve ever seen here but the swamp behind my garage is drying out and there’s no rain in sight for ten days so I think that problem will end soon. Unfortunately the blood sucking flies have arrived. So far only the biggest that can be heard from a long distance. Alma managed to scare on of them away after trying to eat it and the sound from her jaws hitting would scare away even wolves I think π π π

Suddenly our postal service is worried about their employees, which is a good thing to be honest. However if I order a package that ways 19,9 kg (43,87 pound) they’ll carry it to my front door. If it should way 20,1 kg (44,31 pound) they’ll only bring it to my gate. That would have been perfect for me but if it weighs 43,87 pound I also need to stay at home and sign that they have delivered it? Why not just leave it at the gate so I don’t have to take a day off from work to sign that I’ve recieved it? So from now on I need to get one sack of dog food and no more each time, therefore they must drive to me more often and I’ll have to pay more because it’s always cheaper to buy two packages at the same time. I could just leave a big wooden box outside my gate so they could leave it there but they won’t allow anything like that I’m afraid.

It is time for a last cup of tea and then read a book.
Have a great day!
Christer,
Nala is a bug chaser. She snaps at them as they fly near her. Henry doesn’t choose to expend that much energy. He’d rather have a biscuit.
We have a green fly season but they tend to be near the woods. I remember walking with Shauna and using her leash to swipe at the flies attacking her. It was unexpected as I hadn’t seen them before. I just about ran to the car.
Today was going to be my trip to the garden center, but it rained. I was going to buy the deck pot flowers and the herbs for the deck boxes. I’m going with perennials or the deck pots.
Your flowers are lovely!!

Hi Kat!
Both Nova and Albin are like Henry π π
WE have the green fly relatives here and their season is quite long. I’ve read that we have more insects here because we have daylight for so much longer every day, more time to create more and more time to eat during the day because of that.
I always go to garden centers on rainy days since so few others are there π π I can easily get what I want and don’t have to stand in line when paying π
Have a great day!

The English term for pushing dirt around plant stems is called hilling up, earthing, or ridging up. Hilling up is most common around my area.
I’m glad to read that you”re a bit less sore from falling down the steps. Those nails that catch on slippers and socks are treacherous. My old oak floors have ancient nail heads sticking up just the proper height to be invisible but still able to snag socks or poke bare feet. I keep saying I’m going to buy a nail setting tool and pound them all back down but then I forget until the next time I snag my sock.
The biting midges are out as well as the mosquitoes but they’ve been quiet for the last few days because it’s been cold and raining. They’ll probably come back doubly vicious when the sun comes out again. Got to make up for lost time.

Hi Caryn!
Sort of makes sence since one is making a small hill around the potato plants π Thanks!
That’s the problem, one never remembers until getting caught the next time π π I can’t even find my hammer at the moment π π π
Midges are nasty, they can actually be so many that they can kill a moose if it can’t get away from them. No rain in sight here so I hope the mosquitoes soon will die out. There’s always a few that survives though so the next rain will just give us more π π π
Have a great day!
