We were supposed to have a gray and dull day here with little to no sunshine so is anyone surprised when I say that we’ve mostly had sunshine all day? š š š 21C (69,8F) but really hot in the sunshine. I even hesitated to take the dogs for a walk because of how hot it was. Albins fur is so short that I doubt it can regulate heat especially well, Nova is old and Alma starts panting as soon as I open the door before the walk š š š But we did take a short one i the forest where it’s mostly shadowy. Still they are now all sleeping on the floor beside me here on the upper floor. The windows are open and there’s a wind blowing so it feel almost chilly here now.

I’ve never seen as many flowers on my lilac hedge as there is this year. It’ll be horrible when they all open up but even worse when they wither away. It is too much work to remove it though so here I am complaining every spring when they open up š š It will rain tonight they say, anything from light drizzle to heavy rain. They are guessing that we’ll get nothing up to 25 mm (an inch) of it during the night and early morning. They are also guessing that the warm weather will stay but one day or two the temperature might not reach 20C (68F). I can live with that š

I’m continuing to sow seeds and today it was mostly for flowers but I do have some more vegetables to sow but I want to see what of the seeds I’ve already sown will come up before I continue. Any bare spot will be filled with something new. I’m also pretty sure I won’t get any walnuts this year either, not a sign of “flowers” on my black walnut and the one I just planted barely has any branches or twigs at all š š š My Pawpaws looked fine until that rain/ hail and snowstorm passed by but now they look dead. There will be new leafs some time during the summer but it is annoying and that will make it harder for them to survive next winter if it is a tougher one.

So back to work tomorrow since I didn’t even get one number right on the lottery ticket š š š The laundry is done and so is dinner at work for next week. I’ll only have to add baked beans and fried eggs. I I didn’t want to fry eggs today for something that won’t be eaten until next Friday and I don’t know how fried eggs make it if they are frozen.

Have a great day!
Okay, so I had to google whether fried eggs can be frozen or not. Turns out they can be frozen in a single layer for up to 2 months. The recommendation was to do this only if you cooked a lot and didn’t want to toss the leftovers. They don’t taste as good as freshly fried out of the pan so I guess you would have to spice them up a bit when you cook them the first time. You can reheat them straight from the freezer. I’d probably put a slice of cheese on them so it would melt and then I’d cover it all with salsa and crispy bacon. That would take care of the lack of taste. š
The lilacs will not go away by cursing them. They’re stubborn that way. I love lilacs and don’t have any in my yard. I inflict finger blight on my neighbors’ lilac bush. They don’t notice the poor bush at all. It’s on the edge of their property near the road and overgrown with daylilies and virginia creeper.
We got almost 2 inches of rain yesterday and last night. Today started out very overcast but now the sun is very strong. It’s 68°F.

Hi Caryn!
So to be honest it’s just easier to fry those eggs the day before I want to eat them at work š š I do like the cheese idea though š
Yes lilacs are truly like weeds and it takes several years before one can be sure they’re actually gone. Two neighbors ago, around 15 years or so removed the lilac hedge and there are still new shoot every year growing up at that place. I guess I could like one lilac but having 35 yards of it and also two huge lumps of the Hungarian lilac, which thankfully smell less just outside my bedroom window is a bit too much š š
I don’t think we got a single drop of rain last night and they guessed we should get an inch of it š š š
Half sunny today but pretty warm, much the same tomorrow but after that the sun will return and they’re guessing that we next week will reach 82,4F, that I really don’t like š
Have a great day!

When I was a teenager, my father and the neighbor removed about 50 feet of very old, well established lilac hedge much like yours. The neighbor built a garage over part of that area. No lilacs ever appeared anywhere else and the one white lilac bush they didn’t rip out died from loneliness, I guess. And my father almost died from my mother’s wrath as he hadn’t told her that was the plan. š

Strange how plants can behave so different in different places. Lilacs are seen as horrific weeds here š š š
