The storm is over but it took its time, it was really windy almost all day yesterday but the worst gusts had at least passed by. Over 30 000 households lost power and trees fell all over the south west parts of Sweden. Cars got destroyed and lots of buildings as well. From what I can see only two pines fell here and we never lost power. My neighbours greenhouse plastic windows were pushed so hard that they either flew in to my garden or fell inside the greenhouse. None of them were damaged though so it’ll take five minutes to put them back 🙂

Their cottage took almost all wind so it was fairly calm in my garden and I slept really well since it was so calm and quiet here 🙂 I’ll soon be even more protected from those winds when my neighbours finally can start to expand their home, they’ll get a couple of more bedrooms and builds it along our property line 🙂 My garden will still get just as much sunshine as before but my greenhouse will b even more protected from strong western winds 🙂

Today has been sunny and it should have been much nicer than it was, the wind shifted so it now comes from north east and it feels really cold. Ok most of my garden is on the south side of my cottage so it wasn’t that bad to be honest but anyway 🙂 I saw that one of my apricot trees have flower buds so if I can protect those flowers from every night frost we’ll have until summer arrives I might get apricots 🙂 Not many but a few because the tree is very young still. I think I might have flowers on the bigger apricot as well but I’m not sure. The problem with apricots here isn’t the hardiness because they are really hardy but that they start to flower so early that the risk of frost destroying them is really big. We’ll have frost tonight so I’ve covered it with layers of non woven fabric, I do hope that’s enough.

They say we’ll have sunshine until at least next Tuesday, probably longer so I’m happy 🙂 It does however mean we also most likely will have frost all those nights as well. So I’ll cover the little apricot in the afternoons, uncover in the morning and hopes that the few bumblebees we have will visit the tree. I’ll also play a bumblebee by using a brush to spread the pollen in the flowers 🙂 The Vietnamese melon seeds I’ve sown are now showing up above the soil 🙂 and the Pawpaw seed that finally after a year and a half decided to germinate is also on its way up. The Sea buckthorn seeds are also germinating now so I’ve put them in soil and brought them out to the greenhouse, they’ll get a good start there together with Mahonia seeds and Japanese raisin tree seeds I also placed there 🙂

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day. I do have some ice creams left but I think I’ll save them a day or two since we’ll have sunshine. Perhaps I’ll instead will have a bowl with strawberry yoghurt and some muesli 🙂
Have a great day!
