Nast cold this morning and I would lie if I said it is much warmer now. So we haven’t had any walk yet because the snow is still so cold in places where the sun can’t reach it that it would risk damaging the dogs paws but the day isn’t over yet so there is still a chance.

The sun is shining though and it is really nice when standing in the sunshine, especially close to a wall 🙂 I would have liked to check how warm it is in the greenhouse but I’ve blocked the door with a stick and the stick is frozen solid to the ground 🙂 🙂 🙂 They are still guessing that the above 0C (32f) temperatures during the days for at least eight days in a row and how I wish they’re right. This is the beginning of the time of year when small trees and bushes die. The warm and sunny days wake them up and they want to start growing but the ground is frozen solid so no water for them to drink.

I have been suspecting that we have another mouse in the cottage, the monster has been a bit too interested in the cool cellar lately. This morning it sat in the box trap, very calm and not looking too bothered by being caught. I waited until it was less cold outside and today I chose another place to let it out. It is a hollow log and close to an empty stable so that it has a chance to move there during the cold nights. I couldn’t keep it since one previous prisoner chewed its way through the plastic so any animal can get out without any problems. Perhaps I get a real cage for next winter so if I catch any I can have them there until it is warm enough to let them out in the wild.

It is time to make a pot of tea. I’ve just had my dinner, fried chicken and boiled potatoes today so it’s always nice to have a cup of tea after. I haven’t checked the wildlife camera yet but there was nothing else than cars driving by when I checked yesterday.

Have a great day!
