So I got my new mattress pad yesterday and really looked forward to test it for the first time. So this was the first night I wasn’t tired π π π I did sleep really good when I finally managed to go to sleep though π π I’ll know better after tonight I hope π

We went out on our morning walk around 6:30 today but it was already enough warm for the flies to be active. To be honest it wasn’t that bad compared to how it use to be but one annoying file is way too many for me π When we reached the bog mosquitoes took over instead and they usually never tries to land in my face or ears so they didn’t bother me that much. I do have a few mosquito bites on my right ankle though but those I got yesterday while watering the plants I really want to survive the summer.

It has been so warm that the dogs ran outside to play but never did because of the heat, instead they just laid down and ate some apples, the farting will be horrible tonight so the bedroom window will be open all night π π So many apples are falling down now that it is impossible to get rid of them before the dogs starts eating them, I guess it’s because of the drought stressing the trees.

So we haven’t done much outside today besides the watering, I have however done some more laundering and baked a bread in the machine. I’ve learned that different kinds of flour acts really different with water and some doesn’t seem to swell at all in water while others do that a lot, so Teff for instance (a Β cereal originally from Ethiopia) doesn’t swell at all so it’s just like a light flowing porridge and therefore must have a lot of more time in the heat. I do like it but it sure complicates baking in the machine for me π π In the end it did turn out really good.

It is time for that last cup of tea and a sandwich from that loaf of bread. I think there was something I wanted to see on tv but I can’t remember what π

Have a great day!
I wish my pest guy knew as much about bugs as you know about plants!
As someone else recently suggested, it does seem your ideal job would be in a greenhouse or some kind of plant store.
Do you know how spiders spin their webs? Looking at that perfect round one you captured, I wondered if the spider starts from the outside and works inward to end up in the center, or spins from the center and somehow spreads the web out. But now that I’m articulating the second way, it seems impossible.
And how does the web end up in perfect segments, as if you sliced into an orange horizontally?
This is really more about spiders than I ever wanted to know, but they’re spinning webs all around my house as if they’re already decorating for Halloween, so they’re on my mind.

Hi catsworking!
It would have been fun but it’s rare that those jobs gets advertised.
Yes I actually do π They start with the long straight lines so they have a frame to work with, then they start at the middle working their way outwards. They do put in quite a lot of work to it so they can find twigs or straws or what ever they build it in that fits even if some of them are a bit far awayWhen those long ones are a bit wide in between they actually go back one step, walks over the segment they’ve already done and then walks up the straight line and attach the new string there and so on until it is done.
They re do it every morning and I’ve learned that they eat the old web before making it again, it costs a lot of energy to make spider webs so they need to eat the old one to get back some of it.
I’m fascinated by spiders and now days I see them as our best friends since they eat flies. I don’t however like to have one of them walking on me unless they are tiny π π π

Aha! So that’s what the vertical lines are. The foundation of the web.
The web between my two cars the other day was quite large, at least 3 ft. wide between the car doors, and about 18 inches across. It wasn’t thick at all, just a lot of loose strands. But there was a spider sitting in the middle.
Of all the bugs I find, spiders the ones I tolerate best because they do seem intelligent.

It doesn’t look like repair the net when something’s gotten caught in it but if one goes back the next day there’s a new one.
That’s a big net π
I think they are smart but my main reason for liking them is the fly eating π π

The wall of the building where the car is parked is a beautiful yellow color!
Nice spiderweb work there, too…

Hi GretchenJoanna!
It goes very well together with the house which is brick and brown wood.
Yes those spiders know how to build a web π
