We had the most wonderful sunrise this morning and after that the clouds came rushing in. With the clouds came the rain and it was a lot and until early evening when the sun came back again.

That’s more or less all I can say about the day and weather, I can’t see anything outside from where I work :-)A bit chilly perhaps but it’s really nice now when the sun is shining again. The birds are singing and the magpies have tossed out their younglings.

I have absolutely now idea why they do it in my garden since I’ve always have had dogs ad cats. The magpies toss out their younglings before they can fly so I can’t count how many times I’ve had dogs with small magpies in their moth walking around in the garden. They never kill them, just carries them around which sometimes gives the birds so much stress that they die after they’ve been released. This time the dogs couldn’t come close thankfully.

Honeysuckle is easy to propagate, just cut of a branch, place in in a pot with soil and water.

So that was what I had to say today, time for that last cup of tea and then watching something on tv I think.

Light blue Forgetmenots in deep shadow shines like tiny stars.

Have a great day!

  1. Your garden looks to be doing well, and the peonies about to bloom!
Mine are just beginning to open.
I had no idea Magpies were such brutal parents! I’m glad the younglings were safe in your garden this year.

    1. Hi Goodport!

This bud is the one that have come the furthest and there are a few others as well but they are much smaller. It is an odd year when it comes to the vegetation, some started really early because of the warm weather but some waited and showed up just as they always do šŸ™‚ The oaks and my walnuts just goes on as always and really didn’t care about the summer being a month early šŸ™‚

I have read that by doing so the bird younglings doesn’t get any lice or fleas and gets a better start in life that way, then again being chased by cats and dogs can shorten it quite a lot šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

  2. Still cool in the 70sF and very rainy this week in Virginia. I love it. The air conditioner isn’t coming on, I can sleep with a light blanket. Once the heat sets in, it gets humid and I spend every day soaked with sweat from the moment I open my eyes until November. I think my house must have no insulation at all. I have to run a fan in addition to the A/C in any room I’m in during the summer and fall, just to keep the air moving and dry the sweat. I don’t know how the furry cats stand it.

    1. Hi catsworking!

It goes up and down here, some days almost winter and some days it goes up to 68F.Lots of rain here as well, we’ll have one more day, tomorrow, without any rain but already tomorrow night we’ll get more, good for nature not good for us who mowed the lawn šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

Summers a few years back rarely reached 77 as highest and only for a week or so, now we can get it as hot as 96,8 for several days in a row, not often but it happens and I really don’t like it. AC’s in homes are really rare here but most of us have fans but to be honest they really don’t do much help when it reaches those temperatures šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚
I guess that their fur insulates against both cold and hot weather, at least within reasonable limits.

  3. Christer, it seems that Magpies really have a tough love as far as their young go and hope that more will survive this year. of course, if you find them a nuisance, than maybe you do not see it that way. It was good to read that the dogs did not kill them, but dying after being stressed out was interesting to read.

We have had 3 days of sunshine and warming temperatures, ut that will come to an end by Thursday when the rain is forecast to return…again.

    1. Hi Beatrice!

Turns out that their young ones actually have fewer fleas and other pests because they do like that and therefore gives a better start in life but then again cats and dogs can shorten it dramatically instead.

Magpies are funny birds and I don’t mind them, but I really don’t understand why they chose my garden to have their nest šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

No rain today or tomorrow until tomorrow night and then it starts again. Well nature loves it so I really can’t complain šŸ™‚
