I’ve survived π It has been awful but I think I actually have two problems working really well together. The cold and fever is bad enough but that exploding pain every time I took a deep breath or coughed/ sneezed is most likely another problem and her name is Alma π π π

She actually can walk really well to be honest but way too often she see something that she wants to chase or she”s just bored and wants something to happen or god knows what. She had one of those rushes the day before the cold started to show and I was unfortunately a bit too relaxed and never had the chance to fend it. I thought it was odd that the pain mostly only came from the right side of my chest and when I held my arm in a certain position (up in the air) the pain was less horrible. So my guess is that I have perhaps a little rupture in a muscle or tendon beneath the ribs. I just looked it up and yes it’s most likely why it hurts so bad.

So last night I slept in my recliner because I thought at least the coughing would stop, perhaps some but then I had pain in my neck instead π π π Also I had to be leashed together with Malkolm so he wouldn’t get us in trouble while I was asleep π π π The poor boy has big problems now when Alma is in heat. Thankfully he does listen to what I say so every time he has tried he stops when I shout at him π π π One could Β think that the chemical neutering at least would have some effect since more than a week has passed since he got it. Alma however doesn’t seem too bothered by being in heat. Anyway tonight we’ll be in the bedroom again and Malkolm and I will be leashed together again π

My neighbour has saved me by getting groceries for me, one can’t get better neighbours than I have! Yesterday instead of pear soda I bought raspberry soda π WE were supposed to get a visit from the ice cream van this week but suddenly they’ve changed that again!! Now it’s the twelfth of Mars. Would have been nice to have some ice cream with that soda π Ok I don’t spend any money so perhaps I should see that as positive π

The first Crane has arrived at the lake and that usually also means we’ll have one more snowstorm coming π The rest of the Cranes will start arriving in the middle of March and so many as 28000 might stop there at the same time.Normally if the weather is warm and nice there won’t be that many at the same time but if the weather is bad they’ll stay because they are being fed. This isn’t a touristy area except for when the cranes are here. I’ve noticed that most of them are idiots because if they see a Crane in the fields they just stop the car open the door and run out to see it better, instead of driving a few hundred meters more to the lake and see thousand there. So now days they put up so many traffic signs and lower the speed limit just during the Crane season π

I haven’t eaten anything today and still isn’t hungry but I think I really need to have something, I will at least have a cup of tea π
Have a great day!
Glad to see you are feeling better, and also glad you believe the pain was something physical that can heal and go away, rather than a bacteria or a virus, which is like chasing a ghost.
Malkolm has a very noble profile.
I haven’t been reading your blog for too long, but I don’t recall seeing any photos here of the lake you mention. Do you ever walk there, or would you have to drive?

Hi cats working!
Slowly but steadily π
I thought that if it was the cold giving that pain it should have been all over my chest and not in just one point on my body. I still have no idea if this was just a cold or flu or what but it is slowly giving up now.
I would have loved to show photos of the lake, well most of what can be seen is grass where the cranes walk and after that the lake starts. It’s shallow and lots of vegetation in it so it’s hard to see the actual lake unless one drives up the mountain π π I post photos of the Cranes and the lake every spring so if You look back to last year around early to middle March You’ll find them, otherwise just wait and I’ll post more later next month π
Dangerous to walk that road, lots of lorries driving on it and the road goes here and there and up and down so I always drive there.

I will have to check that out. I wish I lived somewhere near water. My parents had a house beside a man made lake, and I almost moved in there after they died in 2023, but itβs a much bigger house and I didnβt know if I could afford it, so we sold it. Now I kick myself. The cats would have loved the extra room to run around.

Hi cats working!
Always the money, isn’t it?
Today I’m really glad that I bought a very small cottage at the outskirts of the world.

Hi blythedunbar!
It is going the right way even if it does so slowly π
I must say that Malkolm behaves really well when leashed during nights, he does try to wander off but as soon as I pull the leash he’s right back where he’s supposed to sleep π
Glad You like them π

Hope your cold will be gone soon, Christer, and the pain as well. I can’t imagine ho difficult it must have been to try and rest in the recliner while holding onto Malkolm’s leah. Hope that the situation will improve soon for all of you.
The photos are beautiful and the lighting makes it look like spring will be arriving sooner than here. We have many piles of very dirty snow which may be washed away with some forecasted rain, but that will result in a lot of puddles.

Hi Beatrice!
The pain is mostly gone but the cold lingers on π Still I’m much better than I was just a few days ago. The leash holding was the least of the problems that night π π even though I did use a pillow my head still tilted towards the left and my neck didn’t feel especially good after that π π
I is an odd winter/ spring here. Warmer than usual so it does feel a bit wrong even though I do enjoy it fully π Our snow never get dirty even though we have dirt roads here but as soon as one’s out of the village it’s more black than white but we do get the puddles π

I’ve been following your adventure. I hope you get relief from your chest pain . I had a terrible back pain and briefly thought I was having a heart attack, but a heating pad fixed it! So I hope you get to look at all those loud cranes and watch them land and take off, which can be like a ballet.
Your photos as always are so nice! Take care and good luck

Hi Carol!
I can happily tell You that the pain is almost totally gone now π
Heating pads are the best! I do use it when my neck hurts after a night when I’ve had my head in a bad position. Glad You didn’t have a heart attack!
I’m actually not down by the lake that much, we have nesting couples walking around everywhere here and they quite often walk in the cow pasture on the other side of the gravel road outside my gate π It isn’t spring until a Crane wakes You up early by trumpeting loudly outside ones bedroom window π π π
I’m glad You like them π and I will.
