Misty rain and meh fog here in the village today. The fog was much thicker outside the village and all the way to the grocery store in the village where I used to work. I still go to that store every now and again because that’s where I started to buy my groceries when I moved up to this region over 27 years ago. It’s as if I know them all by now even though I’ve seen plenty of the workers come and go during the years π

There was almost no traffic either way so I could drive in the speed I like and that’s usually slow π On the way home I listened to a radio program about language and our dialects and the difference between them. It was rather fun to hear words in different dialects and how I actually understood lots of the words from southern Sweden, I don’t use them but heard many of them growing up because my grandparents came from the south and used them all the time π They didn’t have much of the dialect left but all the words π

Winter is on its way says our weather services. We’ll have a couple of days with warm air and rain left, then it’ll turn and the temperatures will drop and the rain turn to snow, can’t pretend I like that even though it does look nice in photos when there’s 20 cm (8 inches) of snow covering the world. The only good thing is that I at least won’t have to drive around in it π π π I also have very little snow to shovel because the gate to the garden is just 4 meters away from my door, I only have to shovel some around the car as well and the rest the guy shovel the roads will take care of π Plus it will be easier to see if wolves are around, always good to know for us with animals.

Sara the monster kitten is now in to destroy all my orchids π Those that look like grass when they don’t flower. She likes to play with the leafs and when she does get a grip on them she tears them down on the floor π π She also attacks the dogs all the time, not that they care especially much but one day her claws and teeth will reach the skin and then they might π π On the other hand Malkolm plays rather tough when he plays with her so I guess it evens out π π

It is time for that last cup of tea for the day and I’ll continue to read the book I started on but every time I sit down to read both Alma and Malkolm wants my attention so it’s going slow but forward π I wish You all a good continuing of Yule!

Have a great day!

Sounds like Malkolm may have taught Sara that the way to play with dogs is rough. Maybe everybody will calm down once the dogs get one good adult cat claw hooked in their noses.
Two of my cats, Roc and Tony, have a wrestling relationship 24/7. I got Tony as a kitten to be Roc’s playmate because Roc was pestering his old brother Max constantly and Max didn’t like it. My plan worked out perfectly, and it’s funny to watch Roc and Tony slapping each other around just in greeting. They tumble and chase, but nobody screams or gets hurt and no tails fluff out in anger, so I let them have it.
I had a cat once named Yul (Brynner) who ate all my lovely African violets. He apparently had a taste for fuzzy leaves. They didn’t hurt him, thankfully, but I had to stop growing African violets. I should get another one now that I have a different group of cats, just to see if it could survive. The flowers are pretty.
You seem to be enjoying your Yule. It’s a good time for reading and watching movies and eating and sleeping. That’s about it.

Hi catsworking!
It might actually be the other way round π It was actually Sara who started to play with Malkolm even though he never played back for quite some time π π π Now they chase each other all over the cottage but at first he just didn’t know what to do π He’s still a puppy, not even a year old yet, and she’s a kitten π
That’s nice that they found each other that way π Every time I’ve had two cats playing has not been something they’ve done but any time any of them have been bullied by the barn cats up the slope they’ve joined forces and kept those away.
It’s always tricky with plants, if they are poisonous at least some tell us by being bitter I don’t think the African violet is any danger to cats and I think that Your Yul showed us that π π I have a rather big Croton and it is slightly poisonous but after biting one of the leafs Sara stopped being interested in it π
I do enjoy Yule now when people finally have understood that I love spending it at home. I’m a very social person when being at work or at gatherings but I do prefer to stay at home doing what I want and just enjoy the day with dogs and cats π So You are so right in that π

Hello to you all. Off to make tea and read my book. Freezing rain outside, temp just below freezing and everyone on the road driving like idiots. Home and safe and I want to stay that way

Hi John!
Much the same here but no freezing rain thankfully π We will get snow next week though and as it is I’ll stay at home listening to the news of traffic chaos π

i hope that you had a nice Yule, Christer. This was the first year in many that we stayed home for the πholiday and family visited us here. Of course, it also meant dinner preparations, but lasagna and homemade bread are easy with a salad and shrimp. I am glad to have reconnected in late 2024 and while I may not always comment on every post, I do read them. Unlike blogger, Word Press requires me to sign in every time. Happy early New Year to youππ₯

Hi Beatrice!
I did have a nice Yule π
That sounds perfect! Lasagna, homemade bread, salad and shrimp! I was for a while thinking of ordering Chinese food but the things I want are usually deep fried and that usually means wheat flour so I skipped it. If You haven’t read that part they discovered that I can’t eat gluten, only took them 59 years π π π
It is annoying that You do have to sign in every time! I guess that because I’m writing my blog on WP I don’t need to but it is annoying that everyone else needs to!
Thank You and I wish You the same π

Sara looks so innocent. Our cats have our dog intimidated, so he slinks around them less they swat him. However Guy Noir is so old he now wants to be friendly with the dog. It’s funny to watch the dog lay very stiff with his eyes all wide while Guy cuddles next to him. Then he eases away when Guy is asleep.
I think I’ll have a cup of tea, too.

Hi carolannie!
She’s anything but though π π
It has always been like with Your old cat and dog when a new cat has arrived here. The dogs look terrified and don’t know what to do and as soon as the cat comes close the dogs leave π π Nothing like that now though, Alma is the mama and Malkolm the play mate π
Never wrong with a cup of tea π
