We were supposed to have lots of rain today and we certainly have had lots of it. A more constant rain in the early morning but more heavy showers for the rest of the day. We have also had lots of sunshine but being outside was a bit troublesome since one never could see when the showers arrived πŸ™‚

If this tree had fallen in the wrong direction my neighbors cars would have been hit. It fell towards the dog yard but didn’t reach it from what I could see.

The crab apples in the forest are slowly turning red. These taste really nice but have a slightly bitter after taste.

We did manage to have a morning walk in the forest though, no hunters would willingly go out just to get caught in rain over and over again πŸ™‚ Strong winds during the night and I woke up by a loud crack while the rian hit my cottage. I didn’t think much of it to be honest but when I noticed that a huge tree beside the dog yard had broken and half the tree now was lying on the ground I thought it was that I had heard. Turns out that I was wrong, the tree had broken the day before when the storm passed by, what I had heard was the lightning hit nearby. Turns out I had several lightning warnings on my phone that I hadn’t noticed πŸ™‚

I couldn’t see any damages in the forest though. I did see lots of mosquitoes, they were all over us but it looks like the fly season has ended. More flies will come and those are Moose flies, nasty little monsters to be honest, almost impossible to kill and they do have a nasty bite even though they rarely do bite.Β  If we’re lucky last winter killed lots of the larvae plus it has been so wet that lots of the larvae who lives in the ground and pupae have drowned this year. We have had fewer ticks this year because of the weather so I do hope it’s the same with the moose flies.

I’ve done my chores today and we’ve also had our pancakes, this time I had my home made strawberry jam πŸ™‚ There was almost nothing left of the cherry jam. After that we had a long nap, at least two hours. I did wake up every now and again because the back wasn’t happy when I tried to move πŸ™‚ I haven’t made dinner for the entire week at work though, I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to eat so I just took what I had in the fridge and that will last for two days, better than nothing πŸ™‚

It is time for a cup of coffee I think, normally I only drink tea but sometimes one feel that need of an extra kick from caffeine πŸ™‚ I can’t say that the long nap helped to make me feel more energetic so I doubt some coffee will keep me up all night πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

  1. Christer,

Today I picked up Nala’s trash from stolen house items then I started collecting the many branches in the backyard. I dragged them from the areas closest to the deck. I had pine branches and a few oak. Now I have this giant pile. The pine do fall with some noise. The trees have shallow roots so branches are common. I had to rest a couple of times. I was a sweaty mess.

I only drink iced tea, but I like both hot and cold coffee. Most evenings I do have a cup of hot coffee. Lately I have been drinking Brazilian coffee.

We haven’t had rain in a while, but it is predicted for tomorrow. I like to sit outside under the umbrella and listen to the rain.

    Take care!

    1. Hi Kat!

Thankfully the only thing Malkolm and Alma steal is cardboard boxes and they shred those in to microscopic pieces so I just let those become soil again πŸ™‚ Nothing broke in my garden though except for an Aaron’s rod that was well over three meters high πŸ™‚
I do like cold tea but really can’t stand cold coffee, I think that’s why I don’t like coffee flavored ice cream.

Even though we’ve gotten our fair share of rain it still has fallen much less than they guessed, still the ground water level is now so high that we have several new small lakes here πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

It is nice to sit outside under cover when it rains during summer πŸ™‚ that or sitting beneath a tin roof gives a wonderful sound πŸ™‚
